Sentosa Buskers Festival 2013

Sentosa Buskers Festival 2013 Returns 7 September

Sentosa Buskers Festival 2013

The fourth edition of the annual Sentosa Buskers Festival returns from 7 to 15 September 2013.  The free event (usual island admission and car park charges apply) will be held from 4.30pm to 10.30pm at the Merlion Plaza, Merlion Walk, Beach Plaza and Siloso Beach. Now here’s another reason to visit Sentosa.

Sentosa Buskers Festival 2013 – Family Fun

Besides busking, you can expect lots of food and beer, an art and design flea market as well as an interactive corner run by local circus school, Circus in Motion.  Sentosa has opened up the island and invited local buskers of all ages and talents to perform regularly since February 2013.

Some of the buskers you can expect from around the world and Singapore include beatboxing by Dharni the Beatboxer from Singapore, comedy and juggling by Duoh Lala from Chile and France, juggling by Javi Javichy from Spain, living statue by The Leaning Man – Living Statue (United Kingdom) just to name a few. Do show your support for the local budding buskers such as Circus by Circus in Motion, E-Alternatif, Flaming Matrix, Pink Saturday, Off Beaters, Satrialala and Way Past Curfew. There will also be a special appearance by Danish Tivoli Boys’ Guard marching band from 7 to 10 September 2013.  These boys are aged 8 to 16 and dressed in uniforms reminiscent of the Royal Danish Guard complete with bearskin hats.  The Tivoli Boys’ Guard have been performing since 1844. Don’t forget to tip the buskers!

In collaboration with National Arts Council, Sentosa has incorporated a busking cultural exchange programme into this year’s festival to cultivate a community of practice through the sharing of artistic experiences between local and overseas buskers. International buskers Javi Javichy and Tuto Tul will be conducting workshops allowing knowledge exchange and sharing of best practices.
