Singapore Dance Delight Volume 2 Saw A Huge Turnout

26 February, 2011, Singapore – The second edition of the Singapore Dance Delight sponsored by F&N Sparkling Drinks saw 46 crews participating last night from the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, galvanizing youths from all walks of life coming together in celebration of dance and being young.    The Preliminaries was held at 4.45pm today at *Scape, Sky Terrace where over 1000 youth gathered to witness the competition.

Last year’s inaugural Singapore Dance Delight picked its first representative Joyce and the Boys to compete with the world’s best on the international arena at the Dance Delight Vol. 18 in Osaka, Japan.

To compete, dance teams of 2 to 8 in a group must choreograph and perform a 3-minute routine at the Preliminaries.  Upon clearing the Finals, the teams will execute a new routine of 3 minutes for the panel of judges and will be judged on their technical abilities, showmanship, musicality, originality and professionalism.  40 teams competed last night to be one of 20 finalists and to win the opportunity to represent Singapore in Osaka Japan.

The panel of judges will be made up of Street dance veterans from Singapore as well as Dance Delight founders.  Heading the panel is the creator of Dance Delight, Mitsuhiro Harada who is commonly known as Machine.  Accompanying him are accomplished Hip Hop dancer Dominique and well-known House dancer Tatsuo, both from Japan.  Dominque, winner of Dance Delight Vol. 4 and Vol. 10, will have much to contribute.   Tatsuo is known for his ability to freely execute high skilled steps and acrobatic movements in House dance.

The judges from Singapore include Kenny Low, founder, O School; Ryan Tan, Creative Director, O School; and Hu Pei Zhen aka An An from Da’ Street Soulz (Funkamania 2006, Champions).

The winners of Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2 will win a 3D2N round-trip (air tickets and accommodations) to compete in Dance Delight Vol. 18, which will be held in September, 2011 in Osaka, Japan. $30,000 worth of prizes will be awarded to the top three winners of Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2.
