Foodies need to check out the Singapore Food Festival 2022 from 24 August

The annual Singapore Food Festival returns for its 29th edition. Over 70 gastronomic experiences based on the pillars of heritage, contemporary and innovation have been organised for in-person experiences.

The Festival Village will feature over 25 food establishments and a special 9-course dinner as well as workshops, tours, and exclusive menus at partner restaurants. Jelebu Dry Laksa will cook up their signature dish topped with Boston Lobster and Tiger Prawns. The Goodburger will offer its plant-based chilli crab burgers amongst others. One Prawn & Co collaborates with Hock Lian Huat to present a thick, silky prawn bisque with shrimps, mussels and clams alongside a ngoh hiang platter.

Juan Yi Juan, the head bartender of No Sleep Club has created a Martell Noblige cocktail at the Festival Village.

Workshops include the art of mixing spices by Jeya Spices, Thermomix tips and recipes with cookbook author Annie Xavier and passionate home bakers. A marketplace will feature a curated selection of merchandise while there will be entertainment presented by Tiger Beer. Highlights include Jewels Rock Sugar Sticks, Singablend by Hook Coffee, Sachi Soy Wine, Notternuts’ Energy Mix and Ollie Hard Seltzeres.

If you do not reside in Singapore, you can also enjoy a taste of authentic local fare through SFF activations in select countries and nine virtual masterclasses.

Here are some highlights from the masterclasses. Learn to make Otak-Otak Udang with Chef Daniel Sia of The Coconut Club on 24 August at 7pm. If you reside in Singapore, you can purchase a food kit at S$26 and join in the session. Or learn to the Peranakan Fish Cake by Chef Damian D’Silva of Rempapa on 25 August at 7pm. Get the food kit at S$26 and join Chef D’Silva in making this delicious dish. Chef Mavas Ng of Path and Chef Russell Misso of BRDL will be making the Angel Hair “Bak Chor Mee” with Hokkaido Scallop and Caramelised Baby Squid on 7 September at 7 pm. You can get the food kit at S$30 to join in the fun.
