19 July 2011, Singapore – PUMA is searching for Singapore’s FAAS-test man and woman sprinters in its recent campaign that has Jamaica’s Usain Bolt fronting the campaign. Faas means ‘fast’ in Jamaican and the FAAS Lab is a living laboratory to discover the science behind what makes Jamaicans so fast.
Through this lab, PUMA examines the essential ingredients and replicates and packages them into the FAAS product line and introducing them to consumers.

Festival of FAAS
From 6 to 7 August 2011 (1 to 7pm) at Knightsbridge along Orchard Road, competitors will race against the clock over 30 metres and one male and female winner with the fastest time clocked will win an all expense paid trip to South Korea to meet Usain Bolt before he competes at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu.
The winning pair from Singapore will also compete against the other amateur runners from the region for the title of Asia’s FAAS-test man and woman.
Anyone can participate in the competition in Singapore and all participants who complete the 30 m sprint will receive a S$20 PUMA voucher valid for any FAAS footwear.
The festival carnival will feature a “live” reggae band, and the loud cheers of PUMA’s ambassadors Bobby Tonelli, Julian Hee and Dawn Yeoh.
Shoe trials are available here and the school campuses. Participants will receive a complimentary pair of PUMA socks when they try on the new FAAS collection for the sprint.
Schools Activation
Reaching out to youths at various tertiary institutions, fitness trainer Jackson Tan, who developed the world’s first programme that combines sports and Emergenetics will guide the students and prepare them for the ultimate speed test.
Tertiary activation will happen on:
- 27 July (11am to 1pm) – Ngee Ann Poly atrium, (230pm to 530pm) Nanyang Poly track
- 3 Aug (10am to 3pm) Singapore Poly next to food court 5
- 4 Aug (10am to 3pm) La Salle College of Arts campus court.
Limited Edition PUMA FAAS training tees worth S$49 are up for grabs when students participate at the institutions and are limited to the first 50 per day on 6 and 7 August at the Festival of FAAS.
Upload videos online via Puma FAAS website of yourself demonstrating how fast you are, from slurping soup or stuffing your mouth with food in the quickest manner, and the videos with the most votes win PUMA prizes.

Faas 250 (RP S$109) – Constructed with BioRide Technology, a 3 part lightweight running system; Rocker offers an effortless toe-off; Flex increases responsiveness; and Groove kicks in with stability reinforcements. Faas 400 Bolt (RP S$149) – Designed to give you a more natural running rhythm and enhanced speed, but with a touch of old-school styling, inspired by iconic silhouettes such as the PUMA’s Easy Rider. The shoe features BioRide Technology for a more natural and responsive ride. Having studied the movement, foot placement and overall running skills of athletes like Usain Bolt, PUMA identified three proven and consistent skills that were identified as critical to top performance.
