Cloudfields has been on our list for a while and we finally made the trip to Tan Boon Liat Building. The all day dining concept immediately appealed to us because it offers more than the usual cafe brunch menu. From hearty pasta and rice dishes to desserts, tea and coffee, there is something suitable whether you are stopping by for breakfast, lunch, dinner or simply a leisurely afternoon catch up. The restaurant was created as a relaxed space where people can enjoy good food without feeling rushed, an approach that comes through in both the menu and the dining experience.

Behind Cloudfields is a team that believes great hospitality is built on collaboration rather than celebrity chefs. The restaurant works closely with chefs, creatives and local makers to shape both its menu and dining experience. The space combined concrete, plywood, stone, greenery and natural light and is designed by Singapore architecture firm Grafted.

Its custom coffee blend was developed with local roaster Nickel, while dishes such as the popular Short Rib Rendang Pasta draw inspiration from personal stories, including a homemade rempah prepared by a makcik. Cloudfields also regularly invites guest chefs to reinterpret its comfort food philosophy, including a collaboration with former one Michelin starred Esora chef Takeshi Araki, and has also worked with Chef Jason Tan, formerly chef owner of the Michelin starred Euphoria, on menu development.

We left impressed with the food and also how crowded it was for weekday lunch. The Short Rib Rendang Pasta was easily one of our favourites, with tender four hour braised beef folded into a rich rendang sauce that coated every ribbon of mafaldine beautifully. The Negitoro + Kimchi Tuna Meltz was another standout, balancing creamy melted cheddar, fresh tuna and a gentle kick from kimchi. We rounded off the meal with the indulgent Tiramisu Caffè, layered with mascarpone, espresso, coffee liqueur and gelato, making it a dessert we’d happily return for. Cloudfields also prepares many of its dishes and drinks from scratch, including its own coffee blend, house kombucha and cold pressed juices, giving the menu a thoughtful edge over many neighbourhood cafes.

Another reason to visit Cloudfields is its location. Tan Boon Liat Building has become one of Singapore’s best destinations for furniture, home décor and bedding shopping, with brands such as Woosa, Mountain Living, and DeRucci, drawing homeowners and interior enthusiasts alike. Having a quality cafe within the building makes it easy to turn a furniture shopping trip into a leisurely outing. Whether you are browsing for a new sofa or mattress, or simply looking for a good all day brunch spot in the west, Cloudfields is well worth adding to your list.

Cloudfields is located within a 2 level standalone building at the side gate at 313A Outram Road, Level 2 Tan Boon Liat Building, Singapore 169073. It operates daily from 10am to 10pm and is located above a coffee shop.
