Strawberry Sakura High Tea at 2am:dessertbar amidst Nagoya Sakura Flowers

Janice Wong has launched her Strawberry Sakura High Tea at 2am:dessertbar since 6 March 2021. Running until 4 April 2021, the interiors at 2am:dessertbar have be filled with fresh Hanami Sakura flowers. They are specially flown in from Nagoya Japan. In this sweltering heat, the flowers last a shorter period of up to 5 days instead of a week. They are gorgeous especially now that we cannot fly to Japan.

The Strawberry Sakura High Tea costs S$49.50 per person and is limited to 10 sets each day. Therefore it is important that you call ahead to make a reservation.

The high tea experience features a Strawberry Yuzu Opera cake, the signature Strawberry Caprese with Roku Gin, the Compress Korean Strawberries with Sweet Milk, Strawberry Sakura and Sakura Caramel chocolate bonbons. Other items include the Strawberry Kakigori, Strawberry Tart, Strawberry Green Tea Monaka, Strawberry Mochis and Kakigori, Strawberry Basil Mousse Cake, Ichigo Daifuku and a savoury Gyoza. Tea or coffee comes with the Hight Tea set.

I tried the high tea set yesterday afternoon and the place was full. At one point, I was the only guy amongst many ladies Most were in pink enjoying the afternoon of sweet treats and taking lots of selfies.

Janice Wong shared that she used to enjoy fresh strawberries with condensed milk when she was a kid. And included this in the high tea set. This is so that we could experience it for ourselves. Let’s just say if the strawberries were especially tart, the condensed milk pairs very well.

For those who prefer a boozy experience, cocktails can be paired with high tea at an additional charge. The Sakura Spritz (S$20) is a concoction of De Bartoli Emeri Pink Roku Gin with Creme de Peche, apple sours, grenadine, sofa water and lemon Moscato. Or share a bottle of Marc Kreydenweiss Kritika Gewurztraminer 2015 at S$79. A glass of Emeri Pink Moscato is also available by the glass at S$12.
