Red House Seafood’s Reunion Takeaway Tiffin Set is available from 25 January to 22 February 2016 and is priced affordably at S$188 for six people. Three main dishes are packed in a three-tier custom-made 20cm diameter red ‘tingkat’ (tiffin).

The Sautéed Fresh Lily Bulbs, Wild Mushrooms with Asparagus dish features firm yet crunch vegetables, wild button mushrooms, asparagus, gingko nuts, lily bulbs, onions, carrots and black fungus. We were pleasantly surprised at how crunchy and fresh they were even though the tiffin set was collected at 5.30pm and we had it for dinner two hours later.

The Sautéed Trio of Seafood with Pineapple with Chef’s Spicy Sauce was a delight. Large whole scallops, grouper fillet and firm and succulent prawns tossed in a Peranakan-inspired spicy sauce with fresh pineapples made up my personal favourite. The types of seafood may change depending on availability.

The third dish in the tiffin was the Braised Pork Belly with Special Sauce. The pork belly comes in quite a sizeable slab. Drenched in a tangy-sweet sauce reduced from lemon juice, fresh oranges and Chinese herbs, the 600g meat is first deep-fried, then slow cooked for three hours resulting in fall-off-the-bone tenderness.

The set comes with a Prosperity Raw Salmon Yu Sheng and Steamed Fried Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf and Mandarin oranges. Disposable cutlery are also provided.
