HSBC World Rugby Singapore Sevens will be held on 16 and 17 April 2016 at the National Stadium in Singapore. The eighth of 10 legs on the prestigious HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, Singapore is the only Southeast Asian country to host a stop on this global rugby circuit. Singapore joined Vancouver, Sydney, Cape Town and Paris as the new host cities on the 10-leg series.

Come 5 April 2016, Fiji Airways will operate a twice-weekly flight between Nadi and Singapore. Operating a 273-seat Airbus A330 aircraft in a two-class configuration with 24 Business Class seats and 249 Economy Class seats, Fiji Airways’ flight will take 10 hours.

Fiji Airways is a strong supporter of the Fiji rugby sevens worldwide and with introduction of flights between Fiji and Singapore, it will be able to fly Fijian fans here to support the Fiji 7s team. Fiji Airways will be the official airline of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens.

Fiji is the defending World Sevens Series champions and also the defending champions of the Singapore Sevens when it was last held in 2006.  The Flying Fijians are the two-time defending champions of the HSBC World Rugby Seven Series and are also one of the gold medalists for this year’s Rio Olympics where Sevens rugby debut as a medal sport.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO, Andre Viljoen commented: “As the world’s most passionate airline when it comes to Sevens Rugby, Fiji Airways is delighted to be the Official Airline of the Singapore Sevens. We are already proud sponsors of our home team and the defending series champions – Fiji. Come April 2016, we’ll be flying direct to Singapore and we look forward to bringing our fellow Fijians here to experience not just top class Sevens, but also some of the world’s best shopping, dining and entertainment. There’s really no better way to say ‘Bula Singapore’ than through Rugby Sevens. While we’ll be busy cheering for Fiji, we wish the rest of the 15 teams well.”
