Ethiopian Airlines marks its 80th anniversary
The sale comes during Ethiopian Airlines’ 80th anniversary year. The airline began scheduled operations on 8 April 1946 with a flight to Cairo via Asmara using a Douglas C-47 aircraft.
Today, Ethiopian describes itself as Africa’s leading airline by fleet size, destinations, revenue and passenger numbers. Its wider operation covers more than 160 domestic, international passenger and cargo destinations across five continents.
The airline says it carries more than 20 million passengers annually. By 2034, it plans to add 117 aircraft and increase annual revenue to US$20.6 billion as part of its longer-term growth strategy.
