Emirates has introduced what it describes as the world’s most comprehensive travel insurance product, becoming the first airline to offer conflict-related medical protection alongside airline-managed disruption support for travellers. Available from 17 June 2026, the new Comprehensive Travel Cover has been developed in partnership with Travel Guard and aims to provide customers with greater confidence when planning international travel. The enhanced insurance product combines traditional travel insurance benefits with additional support from Emirates in situations involving conflict-related disruptions, flight cancellations and airspace closures.
| Common Travel Concern | How Emirates Comprehensive Travel Cover Helps |
|---|---|
| Airspace closures due to geopolitical events | Hotel accommodation support and rebooking assistance |
| Flight cancellations | Alternative flight arrangements at no additional cost |
| Unexpected medical emergencies overseas | Unlimited medical expenses and emergency evacuation cover |
| Conflict-related incidents while travelling | Up to US$25,000 medical expense reimbursement |
| Extended delays away from home | Complimentary trip extension of up to 30 days |
| Uncertainty over travel advisories | Cover applies regardless of government travel advice |
| Lost or delayed baggage | Compensation included |
One of the most significant additions is conflict-related medical expense protection. Travellers can claim reimbursement of up to US$25,000 for medical expenses arising from conflict-related incidents, regardless of government travel advisories. The policy also includes a complimentary trip extension of up to 30 days if required.
Beyond insurance coverage, Emirates is introducing airline-managed support services designed to assist customers during disruptions. Travellers affected by situations such as airspace closures may receive hotel accommodation arranged by Emirates. When Emirates flights are unavailable or an itinerary involves connections on other airlines, affected passengers may also be rebooked to their final destination at no additional cost, including during conflict-related cancellations.
The comprehensive policy continues to include existing travel insurance benefits such as trip cancellation protection, compensation for baggage delays or loss, unlimited worldwide medical expenses and emergency evacuation coverage.

According to Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, the new product was developed in response to customer feedback and growing demand for greater reassurance when travelling. He noted that while travel demand remains strong, travellers increasingly seek broader protection against unexpected disruptions.
Russel Antonio, Head of Global Business & Partnerships at Travel Guard, said the new offering establishes a new benchmark for travel protection by combining enhanced insurance benefits with Emirates’ customer support capabilities.
The new Comprehensive Travel Cover is available at the time of booking through Emirates’ official website or can be added later through the Manage Booking section. It is currently offered in selected markets including Singapore, the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and several European countries.

For travellers departing from Singapore, the new cover provides an additional layer of reassurance at a time when global travel continues to face occasional disruptions from geopolitical tensions, airspace restrictions and operational challenges.
By combining extensive insurance benefits with practical airline support, Emirates is positioning itself at the forefront of travel protection, offering customers greater peace of mind from booking through to arrival at their destination.
Why This New Cover Stands Out
Earlier this year, SUPERADRIANME videographer Dennis Seow experienced first-hand the uncertainty many travellers faced when airspace closures across the Middle East disrupted flights and left passengers stranded in transit hubs such as Doha. At the time, many travellers discovered that standard travel insurance policies offered little protection against war-related disruptions.
Questions quickly arise. Will the airline provide accommodation? How long will the delay last? What happens if alternative flights are unavailable? Who covers the additional expenses? His personal travel insurance did not cover any of this because of the general war exclusion.
These are precisely the concerns Emirates is looking to address with its new Comprehensive Travel Cover. Beyond traditional travel insurance benefits, the airline is offering practical support such as hotel accommodation during disruptions and complimentary rebooking on alternative flights when services are affected by conflict-related events. For travellers transiting through major aviation hubs, that additional layer of protection could prove invaluable.
