MTV Sessions With Vanness Wu Premieres Sunday 1 January 2012

17 December 2011, Singapore – The first installment of MTV Sessions with Universal Music recording artist Vanness Wu was filmed at the Resorts World Sentosa’s Waterfront Studio in Singapore on 14 December 2011. The first episode of MTV Sessions will premiere on 1 January 2012 at 6pm in Singapore and Hong Kong and 7pm in Malaysia with additional content available online at www.mtvasia.com/mtvsessions

MTV Sessions is a multiplatform music series developed for regional and international artists to showcase their craft in a studio environment in front of a live audience. Additional to their own songs, artists will perform favourite covers and remixes produced exclusively to MTV. The locally-produced programme will be informal and reveals the work and life of the artists through their music and personal stories.

The first episode was shot in front of an exclusive and intimate studio audience. The audience comprised winners of Zesta’s Scratch and Win contest. Vanness and his band performed 8 songs from his latest album C’est La “V” and covers and remixes of songs never before performed for a television audience.  These included Knockin’, Aiya and Don’t Leave, and covers of George Michael’s Kissing a Fool, Katy Perry’s E.T, The Christmas Song and a Korean ballad, After the End of Tonight.  He closed the session with Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel.

Previously a street breakdancer from California, Vanness Wu gained stardom as a member of Taiwanese boyband F4 in 2001. In additional to the three albums released by F4, Vanness also launched his solo albums Body Will Sing in 2002 and V.Dubb in 2007. He collaborated with American artists Beyonce, Kanye West and Korean singer Kangta on their individual albums.

His latest album C’est La “V” was produced with a team of leading names such as Ryan Tedder of One Republic, Bruno Mars and Daniel Bi, Korean Stylist Raymond and photographer Zo Sun Hi. Some of the tracks include Is This All featuring Ryan Tedder of One Republic, Say Love to Love, Ai Ya and Destiny which are popular in Taiwan, Japan, China and Asia Mandarin markets.

MTV Sessions with Vanness Wu will premiere on MTV SEA Sunday, 1 January at 6.00pm (SG/HK/PH), 5.00pm (WIB) and 7.00pm (MAL).

• MTV Vietnam on Monday, 9 January at 10.00pm
