A Taste of Mr. McGregor’s Garden
Executive Chef Seumas Smith and Executive Pastry Chef Yong Ming Choong have designed a garden-inspired menu that pays homage to Beatrix Potter’s beloved characters. The savouries are playful yet refined. Think “Mr. McGregor’s Garden Sandwich” with beef brisket and miso, or “Fisherman’s Haven,” a delicate smoked salmon number referencing Mr. Jeremy Fisher. Don’t miss the foie gras and apple tartlet, cheekily named “The Forbidden Orchard.”
Vegetarian options also shine with items like “Woodland Hideaway”, a wild mushroom mousse with parmesan and sherry vinegar, capturing the earthy charm of Squirrel Nutkin’s forest haunts.
Desserts with a Dash of Mischief
The sweets are just as enchanting. A carrot cinnamon tea cake dubbed “Peter’s Garden Treat” nods to the mischievous bunny himself, while a handcrafted macaron bearing Peter’s image hides flavours of cassis and vanilla. Other standout bites include “Mr. McGregor’s Toadstool,” a raspberry cheesecake, and “Peter’s Garden Pot,” a flower-topped chocolate gelato served in a pot with cocoa soil, featuring edible blooms from SKAI’s rooftop aquaponics farm. There’s something charming about seeing the little details up close, cradled gently between your fingers.
Naturally, no English garden tea is complete without scones. SKAI delivers with warm vanilla and raisin versions, paired with jam and Devonshire clotted cream.
