Origin Bar at Shangri-La Singapore has unveiled its latest X Menu, a bold new cocktail programme that explores what happens when different cultures, memories, ingredients, rituals and places intersect. The concept centres around the idea that when seemingly unrelated influences come together, they can create something entirely new. Featuring 16 cocktails and five mocktails, the menu is designed as an exploration of these intersections, where familiar flavours are transformed into unexpected drinking experienc

What makes the X Menu particularly engaging is how every cocktail is built around a specific story. Guests can explore the menu through flavour profiles ranging from Light and Bright to Dark and Rich. Respect The Martini combines Korean Shine Muscat grapes, Japanese Junmai Daiginjo sake and gin as a tribute to the culture of respect shared by Japan and Korea, while guests are invited to bow before taking their first sip. DJ Pepper reimagines the familiar flavours of Dr Pepper as a sophisticated highball made with sour cherries, house-made cola hydrosol and vodka. Meanwhile, Celestial 75 draws inspiration from a 7-Eleven Slurpee, a French 75 and even space travel, resulting in a vibrant frozen blue cocktail served in a spacecraft-inspired glass.

Several cocktails also tap into nostalgia and comfort through inventive flavour combinations. Affogato Colada brings together Affogato, Piña Colada and Hong Kong-style Yuan Yang in a fully edible cup, blending baked pineapple, coconut and Glenfiddich 12 Years into one playful creation. Melon Salad Soda crosses Japanese melon cream soda with a Mediterranean melon salad, complete with feta cheese. Sense of Belonging explores the contrast between tropical lychee and smoky peated whisky, while Burnt Ramos takes inspiration from burnt cheesecake and the classic Ramos Gin Fizz, creating a creamy dairy-light cocktail using coconut yoghurt and black lime.

For those who enjoy more adventurous flavours, Origin Bar has plenty to offer. Tsumami combines Filipino banana ketchup with Japanese-inspired umami notes, Shake Shuka draws from North African shakshouka and Chinese mala spices, while Board Meeting cleverly transforms a charcuterie board into a cocktail featuring fig, honey and Roquefort cheese, with guests even able to choose their preferred level of cheese intensity. More than just a menu refresh, the X Menu demonstrates Origin Bar’s ability to turn unlikely ideas into memorable cocktails, making it one of the more imaginative cocktail experiences in Singapore right now.
