Hunan Restaurant chain, Nong Geng Ji, has opened its second outlet at VivoCity on 25 November, just two months after opening its flagship outlet in CIMB Plaza at Collyer Quay on 21 October 2023. The chain has over 100 outlets in China.
The ceiling in this outlet features traditional Chinese lanterns while the outlet displays an array of traditional Chinese ceramics that are used to store wine, herbs and other ingredients. At the entrance, a display of raw ingredients that Nong Geng Ji uses for its dishes welcome visitors to learn more about the dishes. There are six-seater dining tables to accommodate larger parties.
The second branch offers well-known classics, showcasing traditional Hunan cooking methods that allow the inherent flavours of premium ingredients to stand out. Additionally, three unique dishes have been introduced exclusively at this location to appeal to both tourists and families who are regular visitors to the mall. They include the Braised Pork with Preserved Mustard Greens, Tea Oil Stir-Fried Kampung Chicken and Stir-Fried Hunan Bok Choy with Crispy Pork Lard.
This was our first time dining at Nong Geng Ji. And we got to try their signature dishes, such as the Stir-Fried Pork with Abalone and Chilli, which stood out as my favourite. Nong Geng Ji adds plump baby abalones to it, making this dish the chain’s best seller, with over 700,000 dishes served since its launch in June 2022.
Other signatures include Stir-Fried Beef with Fried Chilli and the Signature Grass Fish Fillet with Chilli.
The aroma of the Wuchang Steamed Rice with Sweet Potato and Red Dates pot is truly delightful. Consider ordering this comforting rice to accompany your meal – we thoroughly enjoyed it.
