January has proven to be far from a “dry” month, with alcohol brands unveiling stunning collaborations in celebration of Chinese New Year.

We had the pleasure of admiring the exquisite L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition Assemblage du Serpent during its pop-up showcase at 72-13 Mohamed Sultan Road. Over at ION Orchard, we delved into the world of Hennessy with an immersive experience at the Crafted by Hennessy and Hennessy Kinetic Spring Garden pop-up, where we discovered the striking Hennessy x Shuting Qiu collaboration bottles.

Martell marks the Year of the Snake with a special edition of its most prestigious cognac, L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition: Assemblage du Serpent. Limited to just 500 individually numbered bottles, this exquisite release features a serpent-inspired design housed in a reimagined Baccarat crystal decanter crowned by a red crystal stopper in the shape of a serpent’s head, highlighting its opulent character.

To craft this exceptional expression, Martell Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud selected rare, aged eaux-de-vie from previous Years of the Snake, blending them with the original composition of over 1,400 eaux-de-vie sourced from Cognac’s four premier terroirs.

L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition – Assemblage du Serpent boasts a radiant amber hue with mahogany highlights, reflecting the snake’s allure and mystery. The first sip reveals delicate citrus and soft spice notes, embodying grace and refinement. A gentle swirl unveils layers of mild tobacco, cedar, and walnut, evolving into a luscious medley of candied fruit, fresh blackcurrant, and quince marmalade for a rich, sophisticated finish. It captivates with refined fruity and woody aromas. Bold citrus notes lead the way, while lingering hints of wood, roasted tones, and tobacco reflect the snake’s dual nature of grace and intensity.

In Singapore, limited allocation of the decanters will be made for sale with prices available upon request exclusively via Le Cercle, Pernod Ricard’s private clientele platform.

Martell unveiled the L’or de Jean Martell Assemblage Du Serpent from 10 to 12 January 2025 at 72-13 Mohamed Sultan Road. The open-to-public exhibition invited guests to enter an immersive zone defined by five elemental forces as an ode to the delicate balance of the liquid – Water, Earth, Fire, Wood and Gold.

Maison Martell has released an exquisite and limited-edition range of its prestige cognacs. “The Spirit of Taste” collection for the festive season of 2025 was reimagined by Chinese contemporary artist Wu Jian’an. The vibrant, festive harmony reflects the smooth, generous taste of Maison Martell’s iconic cognac, Martell Cordon Bleu.

For each of the Martell expressions—Noblige, Cordon Bleu (Global and GTR editions), XO, and Chanteloup XXO—the artist has infused his own interpretation into the design, adjusting the narrative, patterns, and finishes to reflect the distinctive character of each cognac.

Wu Jian’an’s festive limited editions for Maison Martell blend paper-cutting, Chinese shadow art, and collage to create vibrant, detailed designs that reflect the House’s multi-layered storytelling. The artwork subtly incorporates silhouetted faces representing Martell’s craftsmanship, with a modern take on traditional Chinese folk art. The packaging beautifully intertwines Martell’s symbols, such as the swift and cognac-making motifs, with Chinese New Year symbols.
