Where to Break Fast for Iftar this Ramadan

Visit the Raikan Cahanya Ramada at Kampong Gelam. The annual Ramadan bazaar will feature over 100 booths until 16 April 2023. Up to 86 food stalls run daily with plenty of outdoor seating, including a two-storey mezzanine.

Shop for traditional and modern collectables and clothes. There are 23 retail booths. Catch the dazzling light shows and moments projections from Fridays to Sundays. There are also micro-installation and live performances, amongst other activities.

One Kampong Gelam Team will be roping in partners from Helwa’s Gourmet and Enniche for a Charity Drive at 45 Sultan Gate from 7 to 16 April from 4 pm to 8 pm. Visitors can donate pre-loved clothes, non-perishable food and home essentials. These will then be distributed to less fortunate beneficiaries for the joyous celebrations.

Peppermint’s Chef de Cuisine Leon Yee and Chef Owner Beh Gaik Lean of newly minted 1 Michelin-star Auntie Gaik Lean’s Old School Eatery from Penang, Malaysia, have come together to introduce a selection of heritage Peranakan dishes as prepared and enjoyed in Penang until 30 April 2023.

Savour dishes such as Auntie Gaik Lean’s signature Brinjal Sambal, all-time favourite Egg Belanda (a sweet and sour egg in tamarind sauce), Kerabu Kacang Botol (four-angled bean salad), Fish Curry Tumis, Assam Prawns and Nasi Ulma, Curry Kapitan, Beef Rendang and others. Enjoy desserts like Pulut Hitam with Fresh Santan or the Ubi Kayu with Gula Melaka.

Chef Leon Yee also presents his dishes from recipes passed down by his great-grandmother. They include the Ayam Buah Keluak, Itek Sioi, Sustainable Crispy Barramundi, Black Angus Beef Oxtail Pongteh or Wok Fried Seafood Dry Laksa.

Iced Bandung and Pandan Iced Tea are specially concocted to kick-start Iftar.

The Flavours of Peranakan all-you-can-eat buffet dinner is priced at S$98++ per adult and S$49++ per child from Mondays to Thursdays, excluding the eve of public holidays and public holidays. From Fridays to Sundays, eve of public holidays and public holidays, the dinner is priced at S$108++ per adult and S$54++ per child. Dinner is served from 6.30pm to 10pm.

Atrium Restaurant at Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium offers a BBQ feast this Ramadan Iftar. The limelight is the Whole Spice Roast Baby Lamb which is available only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for dinner. It is served with pita bread, sambal belacan, spicy kicap manis, yoghurt dip and tomato salsa with jalapeno.

On the other nights, Lamb Chops and Rib Eye, Lamb Egg or Turkey Breast are available on the carving station. Three to four items are available on rotation from a selection of otah-otah, marinated grilled chicken drumstick, honey chicken wings, roast chicken, sirloin steak, sambal squid, grilled fish and corn on the cob.  Enjoy the Gado-Gado, Ayam Pongteh, Ayam Masak Merah, Beef Rendang, Udang lemak Nenas, Mutton Rendang, Sayur Lodeh, Ikan Assam Pedas and more. They are also on rotation.

The buffet menu has over 40 dishes, including the slow-baked Whole Norwegian salmon, or laksa. The sauces are spicy and legit. Don’t forget to enjoy your meal with them.

Dinner is available from 5.30 pm to 9.30 pm and priced at S$55++ per adult or S$30++ per child from Sunday to Thursday or S$64++ per adult or S$30++ per child from Friday to Saturday.

Window on the Park at Holiday In Singapore Orchard City Centre offers a sumptuous Santapan Ramadan (dining in Ramadan) until 21 April 2023. The spread features traditional Malay ulam salad, ayam bakar sambal kicap, soto ayam soup, lamb chop rendang kerisik sauce, kimchi fried rice, creamy salmon, roasted BBQ chicken with sweet corn, Singapore Chilli Crab or Black Pepper Crab amongst others. Old Chang Kee’s Nasi Lemak Chicken’O (S$2.20 per piece) returns with its original recipe of egg, peanut, ikan bilis and sambal chilli, encased in a green-coloured pandan-flavoured pastry in epok epok crispy skin.

Old Chang Kee offers two Snack Platters at all its outlets islandwide during Ramadan. The 8 Treasure Platter is priced at S$26.80 each and offers eight different snacks for four to six people while the Deluxe Platter for four to six people is priced at S$31.80 each with eight snacks.
