Some 13,000 flight attendants and customer service crews from Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) would be wearing new uniforms designed by New York fashion designer Prabal Gurung.
Singaporean-born Prabal’s designs have been worn by First Lady Michelle Obama, the Duchess of Cambridge, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lawrence, Demi Moore, Emma Watson, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kerry Washington, Diane Kruger, Scarlett Johansson and Lady Gaga. The 35 year was born to Nepalese parents and was raised in Kathmandu in Nepal. Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra have also been spotted in Prabal’s outfits. Prabal was the recipient of the Ecco Domani Fashion Fund in 2010. He also received a nomination for the 2010 CFDA Swarovski Womenswear Award and was awarded runner-up of the 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Prabal will be making a come back and participate in this year’s annual Audi Fashion Festival held in Singapore in May 2014.
The new uniforms, a combination of light gray jackets and charcoal skirts and pants with accents of ANA’s trademark blue, will reflect the airline’s clean, modern and minimalist brand aesthetic. This will be the airline’s 10th generation of ANA uniforms and the last refresh was in 2005. The airline’s current uniforms have a more serious darker design as shown in the photo above. We recently flew on ANA’s Dreamliner service between Singapore and Tokyo International Airport at Haneda.
Coloured scarves and aprons featuring modern Japanese flower patterns, will differentiate each of the uniforms. These new uniforms will make its debut this winter.
