Come 6 February 2017, Etihad Airways will add three weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Sydney to operate a double-daily schedule. This move is due to the move by strategic partner Virgin Australia’s shift of its Australia to Abu Dhabi operation from Sydney to Perth from 9 June 2017. Etihad Airways will expand the codeshare agreement and add its EY code to Virgin Australia’s new thrice weekly Perth-Abu Dhabi flights.

Etihad Airways’ increase in the Australian footprint including the new codeshare with Virgin Australia will increase 42 weekly flights to 45. Etihad Airways will operate its three new weekly Sydney services at the same timings as Virgin Australia’s current Sydney-Abu Dhabi flights, on which Etihad Airways has placed its EY code since they began in February 2011.

EY450, operated on a three class B777-300ER, will depart daily from Abu Dhabi at 9.25am and arrive in Sydney at 6.15am the next day. The return flight EY451 will depart Sydney at 4.20pm and arrive into Abu Dhabi at 11.55pm.

EY454, an A380 flight, will depart daily from Abu Dhabi at 10.15pm and arrive in Sydney at 7.15pm the next day. The return flight EY455 will depart Sydney at 8.50pm and arrive into Abu Dhabi at 5.40am the next day.
