Finnair Named Best European Airline At TTG Travel Awards

Finnair was named Best European Airline at the 24th annual TTG Travel Awards in Bangkok for its punctuality, service quality and hassle-free transfers. The results were voted by winners of TTG publications in Asia, China, India, as well as TTGmice, TTG-BT mice China and TTG Asia Luxury.

Finnair currently flies to 13 cities in Asia and more than 60 European destinations through its hub in Helsinki. Finnair is also the only Northern European airline with a four-star Skytrax rating. The airline celebrates its 90th birthday on 1 Novembmer this year.

Finnair is synonymous previously with the Angry Birds livery.  The airline now works closely with Marimekko for its collection of pillows, blankets, headrest covers, napkins and tableware as well as livery for some aircraft. Eight more long-haul aircraft are undergoing retrofitting to convert its Business Class seats to fully-flat beds and is expected to complete in September next year.  All but three of its long-haul fleet will be outfitted with the full-flat seats except three which will be retired with the arrival of the Airbus A350s in 2015.

Finnair is also building a new Premium Lounge adjacent to its award-winning Finnair Lounge near Gate 36 in the non-Schengen area of Helsinki Airport. Scheduled to open in Spring 2014, the Premium Lounge is avaialble to Finnair Plus Platinum and Gold members and their guests only and frequent flyer cardholders of equivalent status from other oneworld airlines. The lounge will feature new private shower suites with a Finnish sauna.
