Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, celebrated its 12th anniversary on 5 November 2015. Based and headquartered in Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways has grown from strength to strength and now has a few airlines as equity partners including Air Berlin, Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, Alitalia, Etihad Regional, Jet Airways and Virgin Australia. Its global network covers over 325 destinations worldwide today.

Though it was founded in July 2003, Etihad Airways only commenced operations in November, twelve years ago.

The Dreamliner offers three class of service in First Suites, Business Studios and Economy Smart seats. These cabin products were launched late last year when Etihad Airways took delivery of its first Dreamliner.

First Class customers get to sit on a large, Poltrona Frau leather-upholstered seat and ottoman. It also features a personal wardrobe, chilled mini-bar, a 24-inch TV monitor and centre seats which can be joined to create a double bed.

The Business Studios feature direct aisle access, a fully flat bed of up to 80.5 inches in length and a personal 18-inch touch screen TV with noise-cancelling headsets.

Fixed Wing Headrest Economy Seats Offer More Comfort

A feature unique to Etihad Airways is the Economy Smart Seat with an ergonomic ‘fixed wing’ headrest which is larger than any other airline that I have flown on. Some friends I know like to take the window seats because they can rest their heads while sleeping. Now there is no need to with these ‘fixed wing’ headrests.

The seats also offer a 32-inch seat pitch and a six-inch recline. More than 750 hours of on demand entertainment on a large 11.1 inch HD screen with a video touch screen handset.

Etihad Airways has been flying the Dreamliner between Abu Dhabi and Singapore daily since August this year. This Dreamliner flight EY470 departs Abu Dhabi at 10pm and arrives in Singapore at 10.15am the next day. The return flight EY473 departs Singapore at 10.10pm and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 11.45pm.

Etihad Airways currently flies the A330 to Kuala Lumpur and the B77W and A332 to Jakarta. Singapore is currently the only country in South East Asia where Etihad Airways flies the Dreamliner to.

Flying Nanny Helps Parents Onboard

The Flying Nanny on board the Etihad Airways Dreamliner flight between Singapore and Abu Dhabi is great with kids and is around to help parents with kids. The Flying Nanny programme was launched in 2013 to offers child care assistance.

She offers collectible Etihad Airways characters such as Zoe the Bee, Jamool the Camel, Kundai the lion and Boo the panda to kids. A special kit containing straws, stickers, cardboard and other items are also available to keep the kids busy while flying.

In Flight Chef and F&B Managers In First and Business

If you are flying in the premium class, your meals are thoughtfully prepared and served to you, offering more of a restaurant service type of meal rather than what most people would expect when flying.

In First class, an onboard Chef offers a bespoke dining experience and prepares fine cuisine inflight from a pantry of fresh produce.

In Business, a specially trained food and beverage manager is at hand to recommend you a selection of choices from your menu and helps you pair your wines. Food and Beverage Managers oversee the service of a ‘dine anytime’ a la carte and snack menu. Try to restrain yourself, or you may end up like me, overeating.

And in Economy class, you have three meal choices.
