Gardens by the Bay will reopen the Flower Dome on 1 July 2020. Friends of the Gardens members will be able to visit from 1 July while the public can visit from 11 July. Gardens by the Bay celebrates its 8th anniversary on 29 June 2020.
Cloud Forest, OCBC Skyway, Supertree Observatory, Floral Fantasy and the Garden Rhapsody sound and light show will open in phases at a later date.
New Gardens by The Bay Mobile App
Gardens by the Bay has launched a new app on Apple App Store and Google Play Store. You can buy their tickets ahead of time at a S$1 discount from 7 July which can then be scanned to enter the Flower Dome.
The app also lets you perform SafeEntry check-in and check-out, as well as get real-time updates on the crowd levels at the Gardens. You can still purchase tickets from the Gardens by the Bay website but take note that ticketing counters will not be open during this period.
More smart features in the app will be rolled out progressively, with the objective to be an all-in-one app for frequent visitors to Gardens by the Bay. These include:
- Wayfinding within the Gardens
- Booking and payment for shuttle service from Bayfront Plaza to Cooled Conservatories
- Contactless payment at Gardens by the Bay’s retail shops
- Plant identification
- Smart tracking
- Providing feedback on the visitor experience
Friends of the Gardens members can pre-book a time slot to visit the Flower Dome on the app. Choose a time slot and date of your visit.
The app will also store member e-cards. Scan the QR code for entry to the conservatory within the time slot applied for. Members who drive will automatically enjoy 2-hour complimentary parking if the app has been updated with the vehicle IU number. Members do not need to ask for a parking coupon from the information counter.
For a limited period from 1 July, show the downloaded App on your phone at the retail shop, and participating F&B outlets at the gardens to enjoy discounts and promotions.
Friends of the Gardens with a valid same-day time slot to the Dome can enjoy free shuttle rides from Bayfront to the conservatories and back when you show your booking on the App to the shuttle staff from 1 July to 10 July.
Safety at the Gardens
For your safety, the number of visitors allowed in the Flower Dome will be reduced by 75%. Measures have been put in place to stagger the entry of visitors, even out the number of people in a day and deter over-crowding. Other precautionary measures that will be taken include:
- Temperature screening
- Safe distancing of 1m and floor markers to guide people in complying
- Automatic entry and exit doors
- One-directional flow of visitors in Flower Dome
- Self-disinfecting coating on commonly touched surfaces like lift buttons and escalator railings
- Sanitisation of public amenities like toilets every hour
- Hand sanitisers available at all entrances, exits and high contact areas
- Equipping the air-chilling system in Flower Dome with high performance germicidal Ultra Violet (C) emitters similar to those used in healthcare institutions to improve air quality
Remember to wear your mask, not be in groups of over five people and observe safe distancing of 1m.
Floral Display In the Flower Dome
This year’s floral display has been grown in-house by the garden’s horticulturists in its own climate-controlled greenhouses due to the disruption of the supply chain of flowers from other countries. The major flower field will feature a European-themed landscape with popular flowers such as sunflowers, foxgloves, larkspurs, kangaroo paw, coleus and pelargoniums.
Mini Garden Displays
Mini garden displays will be introduced in the Pocket Gardens Surprise series, throughout the Flower Dome every fortnight to encourage visitors to explore the various nooks. The first is Edible Garden, sponsored by private individual John Lo and his family in dedication to Singapore’s healthcare and safety enforcement officers.
Edible Garden features vegetables and herbs grown for use in the kitchen. It is designed to inspire, educate and create awareness on the importance of food security and resilience. Nestled next to the main flower field, it features a range of interesting temperate ornamental vegetables, herbs and flowers such as colorful Swiss chards and sweet pepper, purple kohlrabi, white variegated thyme, silver sage, scented pastel pink and peach-coloured sweet Williams, and violet pansies in a pleasing arrangement that draws on the beauty of symmetry.
