Singapore arrivals into Malaysia in 2014 was 13.9 million, a growth of 5.7%. However, the first three months of 2015 showed an 8.6% dip.
Tourism Malaysia has intensified efforts in Singapore through joint promotions and tactical campaigns to rectify the drop in tourism figures from Singapore.
Joint collaborations include partnerships with Malindo Air, a Durian Fiesta initiative, development of special diving packages, promotion of Malaysia as a music and entertainment hub as well as joint tactical campaigns here.
A daily train shuttle service by KTM Berhad between JB Sentral and Singapore’s Woodlands has been introduced. The train service operates seven times a day between the two countries. This complements the 489 flight frequencies weekly with 73,314 seating capacity.
The Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz was in Singapore to meet Singapore’s travel agents and media on 7 September in efforts to boost tourist arrivals from Singapore. The Minister is scheduled to visit Batam and meet with travel agents and media there to promote Malaysia as well.
