Vietnamese budget airline Vietjet is strengthening its Singapore–Vietnam network with a new direct route from Singapore to Phu Quoc, launching 30 May 2025. Announced during Vietnam’s General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to Singapore, the airline also signed a US$300 million aircraft financing deal with Carlyle Aviation Partners, reinforcing its fleet expansion plans.
New Air Route: Singapore to Phu Quoc
• Launch date: 30 May 2025
• Frequency: 4 round-trip flights per week
• Annual passenger capacity: Over 500,000 between Singapore and Vietnam
Phu Quoc, known for its white-sand beaches and luxury resorts, is Vietnam’s largest island and a rising tourism hub. The new route offers Singaporeans a direct link to this tropical escape, complementing Vietjet’s existing flights from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang.
Since 2014, Vietjet has operated 16,000+ flights on its Singapore routes, transporting 2.6 million passengers. This new addition boosts connectivity and supports economic, trade, and cultural ties between the two nations.
US$300 Million Aircraft Financing Agreement
Vietjet’s deal with Carlyle Aviation Partners will fund new aircraft deliveries from 2025 to 2026, supporting its expanding international network. Carlyle, a global aviation investment firm, manages 363 aircraft across 53 countries.
“We are proud to support Vietjet’s growth and commitment to affordable, convenient travel,” said Alexander Rasnavad, President of Carlyle Aviation Partners.
Strengthening Fleet with Airbus Support
Vietjet also signed an Integrated Material Services (IMS) deal with Satair, an Airbus Services company, to enhance its Airbus A320 and A330 fleet. The agreement provides:
• Consignment stock and pooling support for maintenance
• Optimised supply chain management for operational efficiency
Satair’s Paul Lochab highlighted how IMS enables Vietjet’s maintenance teams to focus on core operations while ensuring fleet reliability.
A Growing ASEAN Aviation Player
With 115+ aircraft and 230 million passengers flown, Vietjet positions itself as a key player in ASEAN aviation. Singapore is Vietnam’s top investor, with US$84.5 billion in investments, making Vietjet’s expansion crucial for financial, trade, and tourism growth.
For budget travellers and premium holidaymakers alike, Vietjet’s latest Singapore–Phu Quoc route brings a seamless, affordable tropical escape just a short flight away.
