Destination Dining: Chi Lin Vegetarian in Hong Kong

Hong Kong - Chi Lin Vegetarian

Hong Kong has pride itself as a gourmet food paradise and a haven for foodies.   Notwithstanding this, Vegan Fine Dining is no exception for those health conscious foodies.  Theresa Young was in Hong Kong this year and she visited Nan Lian Gardens and dined at Chi Lin Vegetarian which is operated by the Chi Lin Nunnery.
Nan Lian Garden - Hong Kong
Located within Long Men Lou in the western end of Nan Lian Garden in Mongkok, you can find exquisite Buddhist Pine, Elms and Holly Wood.  It seems appropriate after a walk around the garden to have the meal. Meal times are fixed which vary on weekdays and weekends. I was there on a Friday and had a reservation for 6 pm.

The Chi Lin kitchen team uses rare fungus and precious mushrooms, a variety of vegetables, fruits and tofus to prepare dishes with herbs and sauces.  No MSG is used for the dishes and they are also prepared with low oil, salt, sugar and cholesterol cooking.  Both a la carte dishes and set meals are served for dinner and lunch.  Or if you prefer, dim sums are also served and you can enjoy tea sets in the afternoon on the weekends and public holidays.

Hong Kong - Chi Lin Vegetarian - serving chopsticks
The first thing which attracted my attention is the table setting of 2 pairs of chopsticks in different colours. I learnt that the black chopsticks, inner one is for own dining while the brown chopsticks, outer one is used for communal dining. This type of setting is commonly found in most restaurants around Hong Kong.

Rainbow Connection
How nice to sight this rainbow after the nutritious meal.  Feel that one is truly blessed in this calm surrounding.
