2016 is the year of the monkey in the lunar calendar. The monkey is a curious creature. We got into the mood of that curiosity and was on the look out for red packets that had monkey designs on them. Initially we got a handful and thought that most brands would print generic ones that were more evergreen.

Eventually we received a lot more. Here are over 30 designs of red packets with monkeys on them. We also received many other designs without monkeys on them. Some of them were so beautiful, we decided to do another story on that. Read about them here.

Aloft Kuala Lumpur has produced a fun design red packet featuring a monkey and lion head to usher in the year of the Monkey in line with the DNA of the aloft brand.

Remove the cover and the envelope inside reveals the words spring and joy in mandarin. The flowers on the interior design are made up of patterns of a frying pan symbolising the Joy of cooking and iron soleplates that signify Spring’s fresh new start to the year. The red packets were given away with purchase of S$100 and above.

The South Beach hotel gives out its first ever set of red packets since it opened in second half of last year. They celebrate their first Lunar New Year this year with a set of red packets in five colours.
